Get Paid to Play Games on Your Phone? My Real Experience with Testerup (No BS Review)

I've been running affiliate offers on Impact for a bit now, and Testerup is one that's been doing okay for my traffic lately. You know those ads promising "$120+ for testing apps" or "get paid to play games"? Yeah, I saw them too and thought it sounded too good – so I signed up, put in some real time, and actually cashed out to check if it's legit.
Quick answer: Yes, it's legit – I got my PayPal payout – but it's definitely not quick or easy money. Here's my honest take based on grinding it myself here in late 2025.

How Testerup Actually Works

It's a free app (Android/iOS) where you earn by playing games to hit milestones, testing apps, or doing surveys. The big earners are the games – they list total potential payouts (up to $200–$300+ for some), split into steps like $10 for level 20, $50 for level 100, etc.

(Full disclosure: This is my affiliate link. If you join and earn through it, I get a small commission – no extra cost to you. Appreciate the support if you use it!)

My Hands-On Experience

I started playing casually – mostly evenings, multitasking with Netflix. Chose games that seemed fun (avoided the super grindy ones at first). Tracking worked okay, but yeah, a couple times progress didn't register right away.
After 2–3 weeks of consistent but not obsessive play, I hit the $70 minimum. Did the quick verification (selfie thing), requested PayPal, and money showed up in a few days.

It was satisfying, but real talk: the time spent was a lot for side cash.

What I Like (The Good)

Actually pays out – Trustpilot is sitting at around 4.1/5 stars on Trustpilot (see for yourself: Trustpilot reviews
If you love mobile games anyway, it's a no-brainer to get paid for it.
High payouts per offer compared to most "earn apps."
Goals are clear upfront.

What Sucks (The Real Downsides)

$70 cashout minimum – Still the same in 2025, and it's tough to reach without serious grinding.
Some games push in-app purchases to speed up (you might break even or profit, but I avoided spending).
Tracking bugs happen – support responded when I messaged, but it can be annoying.
Ads overhype it as "easy testing" – it's mostly just playing games to high levels, no real feedback needed.
If you're into it and pick enjoyable games, you could pull $100–$300 a month. But if you want fast money, look elsewhere.
Bottom line: Solid side hustle for gamers with patience. Not a scam, just requires effort.
